Grand Canyon beach volleyball head coach
Kristen Rohr said she scheduled a tough schedule for a reason and the difficulty of the schedule is showing as the Lopes head to Los Angeles for a third meeting with USC and the first meeting of the year with Long Beach State. The Lopes are currently 11-14 and ranked No. 15 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Â
The Lopes and Trojans (17-8) met on the second day of the season at GCU where the Trojans were able to slip away with the win. In the second meeting in Hawaii, USC took the contest 5-0. The Lopes will get USC at their lowest ranking this season, No. 4 in the AVCA poll, but USC will still be tough to beat as the Lopes have never beaten the Trojans.
Â
No. 6 Long Beach (18-4) and GCU will play in a neutral site game at USC as the Lopes will face the Beach for the fourth consecutive year. GCU fell to LBSU 5-0 the last time the two programs faced each other and are 1-2 all-time against the Beach.
Â
Game one against Long Beach begins at 2 p.m. and game two against USC begins at 3 p.m.
The road trip will conclude the travel for the Lopes this season, as they return home to face Utah on April 19 and then San Diego State and San Diego City College on April 21 for Senior Day.
