After opening the season against four top-15 opponents, the Grand Canyon beach volleyball team will welcome Vanguard and Loyola Marymount to Beach Volleyball Stadium this weekend.
The No. 12 Lopes (0-4) will look for their first win of the season on the second of three consecutive weekend homestands.
The Lopes battled Cal Poly, LSU and USC to 2-3 losses on the opening weekend and came within two points of beating the Trojans, who are this season's No. 1 team and the reigning national champion. GCU plays Vanguard at 7 p.m. Friday and Loyola Marymount at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Returning to the court, Lopes senior
Kelli Iverson will see her first action of the season and give a senior boost to the squad, along with senior
Molly Turner looking for her first dual win of the season.
Vanguard is also 0-4 after falling to Loyola Marymount, Concordia-Irvine, CSU Bakersfield and Cal State Northridge in the first week of the season. Vanguard has yet to win a pairing dual this season.
Loyola Marymount (2-0) started off the season with a win against CSU Bakersfield and a win against Vanguard without dropping a dual in either match.
