PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team faces the conference-leading New Mexico State Aggies (12-10, 6-2 WAC) on Saturday at the GCU Arena, as the Lopes (12-11, 6-3 WAC) are coming off a second-straight win and the sweep over UTRGV. NMSU lost its second conference matchup on Thursday at CSU Bakersfield and heads to Phoenix to close out the trip.
GCU will play one more game at home next Saturday, Feb. 17 before taking to the road for the final three regular season games of the year.

Scouting New Mexico State
New Mexico State is 12-10 on the year and 6-2 in WAC play. NMSU fell at CSU Bakersfield on Thursday in the most recent WAC action. Earlier this season, NMSU lost its 2017-18 opener to Western Michigan before claiming its first win against UT Permian Basin. The Aggies split a pair of games by falling to New Mexico and defeating Texas A&M - Corpus Christi before suffering a three-game losing streak.
After the streak, NMSU downed UTEP and Pepperdine and lost to Arizona. The Aggies then split a pair of games at the Long Beach Classic as they beat Long Beach State and fell to Northeastern. NMSU closed out non-conference play with a win over Western New Mexico and a loss to UC Santa Barbara.
Last season, the Aggies were 24-7 overall and a perfect 14-0 in conference play. New Mexico State earned the No. 1 seed for the WAC Tournament, where the Aggies defeated #5 UMKC (71-63) and Seattle (63-48) to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. They lost in the first round to Stanford, 72-64, in the Manhattan, Kansas, regional.
