The Grand Canyon women's basketball team takes to the road to start December with a visit to UC Santa Barbara for a Sunday matinee contest against the Gauchos.
GCU (2-3) went 1-1 in its Thanksgiving Showdown last week in a pair of overtime games at GCU Arena.

Scouting UC Santa Barbara
The Gauchos (1-6) earned their first win of the season last Sunday against Dartmouth at the UNLV Lady Rebel Round-Up after dropping its first five games of the season.
UCSB opened with a pair of losses to WAC members Utah Valley (63-54) and CSU Bakersfield (56-48). UCSB then lost at USC 82-39 and fell in a home game against Loyola Marymount 70-57. The Gauchos opened the UNLV tournament with a 69-51 loss to the hosting Rebels. Most recently, UCSB dropped a home game to St. Mary's 80-55 on Thursday.
Last season, the Gauchos were 12-17 and 9-7 in the Big West. UCSB fell to Cal State Northridge 72-63 in the first round of the Big West Tournament to end its 2017-18 campaign. UCSB has a pair of players averaging double-digit points this season in junior guard Coco Miller (13.0 ppg) and 6-foot-4 junior center Natalia Bruening (10.5 ppg).
