The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team ramps up their competition on the road as they face their toughest opponents yet back-to-back on Wednesday, April 5 in Malibu, Calif.
The Lopes' dynamic energy and athleticism will be on full display at this week's pair of matches which features the top beach programs in the country. The team will kick things off with a match against No. 2 Pepperdine at 2 p.m. MST at Zuma Beach. The Waves, now 13-1 on the season, have won 12 matches in a row and recorded eight consecutive sweeps. Pepperdine will then play host to the Lopes' second and final match of the day against No. 6 Long Beach State (17-3), whose squad just went undefeated at the Big West Challenge, including a big victory over No. 5 Hawai'i.
The 49ers No. 1 pair has improved to 19-1 on the season, a challenge that
Molly Turner and Tjasa Kotnik are ready for. Grand Canyon's No. 1 pair is currently 16-2 on the season having just faced their second loss to eighth-ranked Arizona.
