The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team will conclude their road matches in Tallahassee, Florida as they face more top-ranked opponents in FIU, Stetson and Florida State.Â
The Lopes, now tied for 10th, will take on No. 14 FIU Panthers at 5:30 a.m. MST. The Panthers are currently 18-10 after dropping two of their three matches at the Staybridge Suites Invitational. They pulled through at the end with a victory over Georgia State, tied for the No. 10 spot with the Lopes. The GCU squad will wrap up their first day of competition against the Stetson Hatters with a match at 8:30 a.m. MST. The Hatters are holding tight onto their No. 9 ranking as they extend their winning streak to eight, just one victory short of clinching their conference regular season title.Â
The Lopes are saving the best for last as they go up against the No. 4 Florida State Seminoles on Saturday at 5:30 a.m. MST for their final match of the tournament. Currently 18-6, the Seminoles are proving to be unstoppable with their last five matches resulting in 5-0 sweeps.Â
The Lopes are putting their recent heartbreaking pair of losses in Malibu behind them and look forward to being back on the courts against some tough competition, hopeful about defending their national ranking and improving on their already impressive 14-6 record this season.Â
