STOCKTON, CALIF. – The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team closed out their road matches with a 5-0 victory over the Pacific tigers, soaring to 11-3 on the season.
Tyanna Roy and
Emily Reinking quickly secured the first point for the Lopes to start the day off. After dominating 21-5 in Set 1, the No. 5 pair finished things off with a closer set and match score of 21-15.
Jessica Clark and
Kelli Iverson brought the Lopes up 2-0 with a quick 21-16, 21-12 victory before the No. 1, 2 and 3 pairs took to the sand.
Rebecca Conrad and
Jessica Stansfield let the Pacific No. 3 pairs within three points on the first set with a score of 21-18, but handled the second set more quickly and took the match point with a final score of 21-13.
Molly Turner and
Tjasa Kotnik followed this up with an impressive performance on Court 1, defeating the Pacific No. 1 pairs 21-16, 21-13.
Jordyn Sanchez and
Hannah Towne dominated their first set 21-13 and despite taking an early lead on Set 2, the No. 2 pair fell behind and were forced to a tiebreaker set after a score of 15-21. The third and final set remained neck and neck until the very end when Sanchez and Towne pulled ahead for the 17-15 victory.
The Lopes return to their home court this Thursday, March 23 to host Nebraska at 4:30 p.m. MST.
