PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team looks to get back on track this week after going 1-1 on the road last weekend in Florida. GCU hosts Long Beach State (1-7) on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the GCU Arena with the game being aired on ESPN3. Admission to all Lopes women's basketball games is free of charge.
GCU fell to 2-6 over the weekend with a double-overtime victory at Florida Atlantic and a loss to Bethune-Cookman. Despite the most recent loss, redshirt senior guard
Jessica Gajewski scored her 1,000th career point in a GCU uniform with a 16-point performance against the Wildcats.

Scouting Long Beach State
Long Beach State is 1-7 on the season, with its only victory coming at Arizona over Thanksgiving weekend. The 49ers defeated the Wildcats, 80-72, on the road. Prior to the victory, LBSU was a winless 0-5, as the 49ers dropped games to Pepperdine, Montana State, Loyola Marymount, USC and San Diego.
Since the Thanksgiving weekend win, the 49ers are 0-2 with losses to Oral Roberts and Montana. Last season, Long Beach State was 23-11 and 12-4 in the Big West, as the 49ers made it to the second round of the Big West Tournament before falling to UC Santa Barbara.
LBSU earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but dropped its first-round matchup to Oregon State, 56-55, on the road.
