PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team plays host to Southern Utah on Monday for the first game of the GCU basketball double header at the GCU Arena before returning for a second double header on Thursday. Admission to all GCU women's basketball games is free of charge.
The Lopes played at Southern Utah last year and came away with a victory, 76-73. Last season was the first time the pair met in Grand Canyon's Division I era.

Scouting Southern Utah
Southern Utah is 1-8 on the season, with its only win coming against Utah State in a 70-67 decision on Nov. 21. The Thunderbirds opened the season with a trio of losses to BYU, San Diego and Binghamton before defeating Utah State. Since then, SUU has lost five-straight contests to UC Davis, CSU Bakersfield, Utah Valley, UC Irvine and #9 Oregon.
Last season, the Thunderbirds were 7-23 overall and 2-17 in the Big Sky. Southern Utah competed in the Big Sky Tournament, but dropped its first round matchup to Idaho, 83-68.
