PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team continues its heavy nonconference road slate this weekend with a two-game trip to Florida beginning on Friday. The Lopes (1-5) go head-to-head with Florida Atlantic (2-3) for the second-straight year, as GCU looks for its second win in a row over the Owls. The Lopes then head to Daytona Beach to face Bethune-Cookman (3-1) on Sunday. The meeting marks the second for the Lopes and the Wildcats since GCU began its transition to Division I in 2013, as GCU defeated Bethune-Cookman, 57-45, in November of 2013.

Scouting Florida Atlantic
Florida Atlantic is 2-3 on the season with victories over Indiana State and St. Francis Brooklyn. The Owls fell to 0-2 on the year with an opening loss to Mercer and a setback at Colorado, while most recently losing to Bowling Green at home.
The pair played last season in Phoenix, as the Lopes dominated the Owls, 81-60. Last year, FAU was 4-25 and a winless 0-18 in Conference USA. The Owls hired Jim Jabir as the new head coach for FAU in April of 2017.
Florida Atlantic lost its final 19 games of the season and did not compete in the Conference USA postseason tournament.
