The Grand Canyon men's basketball seeks its 9th straight win dating back to last year as they host Robert Morris at GCU Arena on Monday, Nov. 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MST and will be broadcasted live in the Phoenix area on YurView (Ch. 4 Phoenix / Ch. 7 Tucson) and streamed online at GCU.tv. Out of market broadcast will also be available on ESPN3 (Subject to blackout within Arizona). Barry Buetel will be providing play-by-play with analyst Scott Williams and Kate Longworth on the sideline.
GCU fans can listen live as Michael Potter and Tom Kuyper will be airing on 1580 AM The Fanatic as well as online via The Fanatic website or mobile app. The pregame show will start 15 minutes before tip and conclude with a postgame show featuring comments from head coach
Dan Majerle.
GCU QUICK NOTES:
- Grand Canyon won its season and home opener on Friday, defeating Florida A&M 67-51. Josh Braun and Fiifi Aidoo each had 11 points while Keonta Vernon had a team-best 9 rebounds.
- GCU used a 13-0 run in the first half to open up a 17-point lead. The Lopes held the Rattlers scoreless for 5:51.
- The Lopes look to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2015-16, when GCU won their first six games of the season.
- With the win on Friday night, the Lopes extended their active winning streak to eight games, the longest current streak in the nation, one game ahead of last year's NCAA Champion, North Carolina.
- Dating back to last season, the Lopes have a five-game winning streak at GCU Arena and have won 16 of their last 17 home games.
- In the WAC preseason polls, the Lopes were picked to finish in first place by both the coaches and the media. In each poll, senior guard Joshua Braun was picked as the WAC Preseason Player of the Year and member of the All-WAC First Team. Senior transfer Casey Benson was named to the All-WAC Second Team by the media.
- Braun trails Richard Davis for the GCU all-time record for career 3-pointers by two. Davis drained 197 treys from 2005-07, including a school record 107 in 2015-06. Braun currently sits at 195.
- Casey Benson, Roberts Blumbergs, Alessandro Lever and Damari Milstead each made their GCU regular season debuts on Friday night. Matt Jackson returned to the lineup for the first time after missing the entire 2016-17 with an injury.
- Robert Morris enters Monday's game 0-1 after dropping their season opener at Ohio State. The Colonials will play their first 8 games of the 2017-18 season on the road.
- Matty McConnell and Koby Thomas each scored 22 points for the Colonials vs. the Buckeyes. Thomas also added a team-best 6 rebounds in the loss.
