PHOENIX – The No. 10 Grand Canyon University beach volleyball team will pack up their bags and head to Baton Rouge, La. on Saturday, April 2 in a matchup against three of the top-15 teams. The Lopes will face off against No. 12 Louisiana State (LSU) at 9 a.m. MST followed by No. 3 Florida State at 12 p.m. MST.
This is the first time GCU and LSU will meet on the court. The Tigers are 8-3 this season and fresh off a four match winning streak. As for Florida State, the two first faced off on opening weekend where the Seminoles claimed the victory, resulting in the Lopes' only loss of the season. Florida State, now 14-1, was undefeated prior to their most recent match where they fell to No. 5 Hawaii.
The Lopes have continued to step up week after week and are now 11-1 with 10 straight wins. After sweeping a total of five opponents 5-0 and claiming a victory at every away match so far this season, GCU has proven that their spot in this top-15 matchup is well-deserved.
After all three teams have the opportunity to play each other on Saturday, April 2, a pairs bracket tournament will close out the matchup on Sunday, April 3.
