- Grand Canyon looks to win their third game in a row and sixth consecutive home game as they face Cal Poly for the first time in program history.
- The Lopes are 30-27 all-time against Big West teams. Cal Poly is the first of two games played against Big West teams as the GCU travels to UC-Riverside on New Year's Eve.
- GCU improved to 8-5 and 6-2 at home with an 89-49 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff last Thursday night. DeWayne Russell led all scorers with 31 points.
- For the second time this season, GCU had four players score in double-figures. The Lopes had five players in double-figures at Penn State (11/15).
- GCU's 40-point margin of victory was the program's largest since transitioning to Division I play. The previous best was 34 points vs. Mississippi Valley State in November 2015.
- Russell has scored in double-figures in 16-straight games, the first GCU player to achieve the feat in the Division I era.
- Russell ranks fourth in the country in minutes played, averaging 37.8 minutes per game. Russell has played all 40 minutes in five of his 11 games this season.
- Oscar Frayer and Martin are the only two GCU players to start and play in all 12 games this season. Russell, Joshua Braun and Darion Clark have started every game they've played, but have each missed time.
- Russell is averaging 25.2 ppg, ranking third in the NCAA, behind Central Michigan's Marcus Keene (31.9) and Valparaiso's Alec Peters (25.6). He leads the WAC by 5.0 points per game and is currently 11.7 points above his career average.
- Martin leads the WAC in steals (1.95), while Russell ranks second in the WAC in 3-point field goal percentage (.481), assists (4.9), and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.25). Frayer is third in blocked shots (1.0) and Darion Clark ranks fifth in rebounding (7.1).
- Joe Callero is in his eighth season as head coach at Cal Poly, compiling a 105-126 record through 231 games, including one NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Big West conference tournament in 2013-14.
- Kyle Toth leads the Mustangs in scoring averaging 11.9 points per game.
