The Grand Canyon University men's swimming and diving team is flying solo this weekend to Colorado Springs, Colo. as they take on the Air Force Falcons at 1 p.m. MST on Nov. 5.
The two teams competed last season at home in a close battle that came down to the final two events. The Lopes ultimately fell to the Falcons 129-114.
The GCU men are undefeated so far this season, with a number of pool records and top WAC times already under their belt. This weekend's meet will be a tough matchup as the Air Force men are currently ranked No. 1 in the WAC and 35
th in Division I overall according to CollegeSwimming.com.
The Lopes lead the Falcons in several events, including
Daniil Antipov's time of 9:39.22 in the 1000-yard freestyle which ranks second in the conference ahead of Andrew Faciszewski and Swimmer of the Week
Mark Nikolaev's time of 22.43 in the 50-yard backstroke which holds the number one spot in the conference ahead of Joseph Gebhart. Â
