The Grand Canyon men's basketball team looks to bounce back after their loss to No. 1 Duke on Saturday, as they head to University Park, Pa., to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions Tuesday night. The Lopes' final campus game of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off will tip-off at 5:00 p.m. MST from the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Nittany Lions (1-1) dropped their season-opener at home to Marist, before defeating Duquesne on Sunday night. This is the first meeting in the series between Grand Canyon and Penn State. The Nittany Lions are 1-1 vs. the Western Athletic Conference, while the Lopes are 0-1 against Big Ten opponents.
- Tuesday's game is part of the campus round of games for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
- The Lopes dropped their season opening game to No. 1 Duke, 96-61, on Saturday night.
- Shaq Carr started and made his GCU debut, leading the Lopes in scoring (18 points) and assists (8). Carr was 8-of-17 from the field and added 3 rebounds in 38 minutes.
- Penn State is the second Big Ten team GCU has faced in the Division I era, having traveled to visit Indiana on Dec. 13, 2014. The took that game 94-66.
