Grand Canyon University senior catcher
Humberto Aranda has been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for April 20-26, as announced by the conference office.
It is the fifth WAC award for the team this season, with Paul Panaccione, Coley Bruns, Andrew Naderer and Chad De La Guerra taking earlier honors.
Aranda hit .700 on the week as the Lopes took a WAC series at Utah Valley. He finished the three-game tilt 7-for-10 from the plate, including multiple-hits in all three games and four RBI. In addition to his offensive prowess, he recorded 20 putouts and an assist behind the dish.
The Lopes will conclude their 10-game road swing with a pair of midweek games at No. 18 Texas Tech. GCU will open the two-game set with the Red Raiders on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. (Arizona Time) contest in Lubbock, Texas. The games can be found on the radio at KXXT 1010 AM (also via the KXXT TuneIn Radio App), the home of Antelope men's basketball and baseball. Live stats and a video link will be available at
