Grand Canyon rallied to force a fourth set, but were unable to get to a fifth, in a 3-1 loss to visiting Lindenwood at Antelope Gymnasium Friday.
The Lopes (12-11, 4-9) lost by set scores of 25-23, 25-14, 15-25, 25-23. Lindenwood improved to 9-8 and 4-6 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
"It's a tough loss when you lose two deuce-sets," said GCU coach Jeremy Price. "It was a very even match and I thought our third set was our best set all season."
Down two sets, GCU hit .833 in the third, getting 15 kills on 18 swings. Gerrard Lipscombe had six kills on seven attempt and three service aces in the set. Lipscombe and Ryan Mather -- who had four kills on six tries in the third -- led Grand Canyon with 16 kills each.

Each team had 28 digs. The Lions had a sideout percentage of 68, while the Lopes were at 65.
In the fourth set, GCU led 22-21, but a kill and service ace gave the advantage back to Lindenwood.
Lipscombe finished with four service aces for the match and hit .375 on 32 attempts. Mather hit .265 and had a team-best five digs. Christian Ward was part of a match-best four kills, including one solo, and had five kills on 10 attempts. Mather, Lipscombe and Ashton King each had three block assists.
