The Grand Canyon University men's basketball team saw its season come to a close Wednesday, as the Antelopes dropped a thrilling 75-70 contest to visiting Northern Arizona at the GCU Arena in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
Canyon finishes the year with an overall record of 17-15, improving on last year's win total of 15, while the Lumberjacks (20-14) advance to the second round of the CIT.

Royce Woolridge finished his final contest in a GCU uniform with a game-high 24 points, using a 6-for-6 effort at the charity stripe and 9-of-13 performance from the field to aid the Lopes. Fellow senior
Daniel Alexander notched a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 boards.
Freshman
De'Andre Davis and
Joshua Braun each reached double figures, dropping in 17 points and 11 points, respectively.
The Lopes were hampered by a cold night from three-point land, finishing 3-for-22 from beyond the arc, while their counterparts managed to connect on nine long range shots in 22 attempts (40.9%).
In a back-and-forth first half, the Lopes held a 40-36 advantage at intermission. Canyon went 15-of-30 (50%) from the field to in the opening half to build the four-point edge. Wooldridge ignited the GCU offense, as the senior poured in 17 first half points andAlexander added nine on 4-of-8 shooting to pave the way for GCU in the opening 20 minutes.
NAU used a 9-3 run in the first 3:05 minutes of the second half to knot the score at 45-45 and held the Lopes scoreless for a 4:33 spell in the final minutes to secure the win. Woolridge scored five points in the final 16 seconds to cut the deficit to 77-70, but a Kris Yanku free throw put the game out of reach.
