Set scores were 18-25, 26-24, 30-28, 25-21. The Lopes are 7-6 overall and 2-4 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Quincy improved to 9-6 and 3-4.
"We had a couple set points in the third, but weren't able to take advantage of it," said GCU coach Jeremy Price. "I'm really pleased with the guys we had and how they competed."
Ryan Mather had a co-match high with 16 kills. He hit .343, had a match-best four aces, nine digs and was part of a team-high five blocks. "Mather had a great all-around match," added Price.
Shalev Saada had 14 kills, while

Ashton King had nine and eight, respectively.
For King, it was his first start and full-match action since a Jan. 28 injury at Saint Francis. He hit .800, getting his eight kills on 10 attempts, without an error. He also had two block assists.
"The good news is Ashton is getting healthy and had a really nice match for us," added Price.

In the second set, GCU took a 23-22 lead on a Mather kill. Quincy scored four of the next five points. The final tie was at 24-24. Tied after a Quincy kill, GCU had its final set point at 27-26, following a Saada kill.
The Lopes battled back from a 20-11 deficit in the fourth to get within three at 21-18, 23-20 and 24-21.
