PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon women's basketball team will look to start a winning streak as they continue its eight-match roadtrip this week as they face off against North Dakota State and UC Irvine. The Antelopes are coming off their first road win of the season against Air Force.

The Lopes held Air Force, to just 10 points in the second half while shooting 7.7 percent from the field. Ten points by the Falcons was the least amount of points GCU has allowed in a second half, since being a member of Division I. Grand Canyon was impressive at this past weekend's Air Force Classic, going 1-1, led by
Cheyenne Hedrington and
Courtney Hayes as the two made the All-Tournament team. Hedrington continues to fill up the stat sheet as she is the only player in the Western Athletic Conference to be ranked in the top-five in scoring (13.2 ppg) and also in rebounding (7.8 rpg). After dishing out 11 assists in the past two games, Hayes continue to lead the WAC in assists per game with 5.4 and she is also second in conference with 2.7 steals per contest. Â

After an impressive weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo., redshirt sophomore
Jessica Gajewski has been named Western Athletic Conference's Player of the Week. Gajewski was also named College Sports Madness WAC Player of the Week. The native of Australia played her best game in a Grand Canyon uniform this past weekend against Air Force, playing a season-high 35 minutes and scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 71.4 percent from the field. The guard from Mountain Creek State made 7-10 three-pointers against the Falcons while also pulling down three rebounds along with two assists.

Grand Canyon vs. UC Irvine - The two schools will meet for the first time.
Scouting North Dakota StateThe Bison are currently on a four-game losing streak having played the last three games on the road. For the first time in the month of December, North Dakota State will play at home where they have picked up its two wins this season. The Bison average 64.4 points a game this season led by Marena Whittle scoring 17.8 points per game. Four of five NDSU's starting five average double-digit scoring and also are responsible for 41 of the 64.4 points North Dakota State averages per contest.

Scouting UC IrvineBefore Grand Canyon travels to Irvine, Calif., UC Irvine will face San Diego Christian. The Anteaters snapped a four-game losing streak this past weekend with a win at home against Nevada. UC Irvine recently faced in-state school, Northern Arizona, and suffered a 71-55 lost at home. UCI is led by Raelyn Cheung-Sutton with 9.1 points per game but right behind her is Mokun Fajemisin at nine points per contest and a team-high 9.1 rebounds a game. UC Irvine averages 56.1 points per game while allowing 75.4 points to its opponents.Â
