Live StatsPHOENIX – The Grand Canyon University women's volleyball team (4-20, 2-10) will host Chicago State and UMKC in their final conference matches of the season.
On the road last week, GCU fell to UTRGV and New Mexico State. While facing the Vaqueros, the Lopes were defeated 3-0, but were able to get a set off of this season's WAC regular season champions, New Mexico State.
Jordyn Sanchez led in both kills and digs with eight and 15, respectively. She earned a .364 hitting percentage, giving up no errors in her 22 attempts.
Melody Horton had five kills during the match, while
Hannah Hicks earned three block assists and one solo block.
Against New Mexico State, Grand Canyon had a stellar second set, fighting back from a 25-15 loss in the first two win 25-22. As a team, they had a .308 hitting percentage during that set. Horton earned nine kills during the match, followed closely by
Natalie Tardy's seven kills.
Randahl Powers had 21 assists during the match, adding to her 250 total assists. She ranks seventh in conference for her 6.51 average during WAC matches.
Scouting Chicago StateDuring their last meeting, the Lopes beat Chicago State in three sets. Last week, they had one match against UMKC where they lost in three. Arieta Vaimaona and Logan Miller led with nine kills apiece, while Corey Davis had 23 assists. Davis ranks fifth on the assists per set in conference matches (7.21).
Davis also led in digs with 14, while Shontanae Addison had 10. Addison is eighth in conference for digs per set (2.85) and third overall (3.21), falling just behind GCU's
Haley Glass who averages 3.68.
Scouting UMKCThe 'Roos defeated Chicago State last week in three sets. Madison Mosier had 14 kills in the match with one error and 22 attempts (.591). Overall, she has a .319 hitting percentage this season. Jessica Hendin also had 10 kills during the win, averaging .364 during the match.
For assists, Nicole Wemhoff led with 21, while Kaylyn Brandt had 20. Taryn Miller, who leads the WAC in digs per set at 5.04 overall, picked up another 14 digs.
