Live StatsPHOENIX – The Grand Canyon University women's volleyball (2-13, 0-3) will continue their season with a pair of home matches against New Mexico State and UTRGV. Last week, the Lopes took on Seattle U and Utah Valley.
Against Seattle U, GCU fell in three sets, including a close opening set that included seven tie scores and three lead changes.
Natalie Tardy who leads the squad this season with 157 kills for a 3.2 per set average picked up an additional 11 kills in the match. The Lopes picked up 15 blocks in the match compared to the Redhawks' 10.
While facing Utah Valley,
Jordyn Sanchez had a strong 17 kills for a .333 hitting percentage, while
Michelle Steagall earned 26 assists, taking her season total to 405. GCU fell in three sets, winning the second with a .162 hitting percentage off of 13 kills.
Scouting New Mexico StateThe Aggies are the only undefeated team in conference play. Overall, they are led by Gwen Murphy's .428 hitting percentage off of 234 kills. She earned 16 kills against UMKC in their four-set victory and six against Chicago State. She also has the second highest blocks with 56. Sasha Lee Thomas has 75 blocks and their lead setter is Taylor Livoti with 398 assists.
Scouting UTRGVThe Vaqueros split their matches last week losing in four sets to UMKC before defeating Chicago State in three sets. Bojana Mitrovic earned 23 kills against the Cougars and 18 against the Roos. She averages 2.1 kills per set. Dubravka Vukoja recorded a total of 79 kills last week for a total of 210 this season.
