The Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (10-8, 1-0 WAC) is looking for their third straight win when they travel to Orem, Utah to take on Utah Valley (6-9, 1-0 WAC) tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (Arizona time). The Antelopes won their Western Athletic Conference opener (73-65) over Bakersfield on Jan. 10 at GCU Arena.The game can be heard on radio on KXXT 1010 AM (also via the KXXT "TuneIn Radio" App), with GCU Alum Michael Potter calling the action alongside 'The Coach", Dan Nichols. UTAH VALLEYThis marks the fourth meeting between GCU and Utah Valley, with the Wolverines holding the 3-0 lead in the all-time series. UVU swept the two-game series last season en route to winning the Western Athletic Conference regular season title.
LAST TIME OUTGCU opened Western Athletic Conference play with a 73-65 win over Bakersfield on Jan. 10 at GCU Arena. The Antelopes led by three at the break and used an 8-0 run over the final three minutes to seal the victory. DeWayne Russell led the team with a GCU career-best 24 points, while Daniel Alexander added a season-high 19 points. GCU drained a season-high-tying nine three-pointers in the game.
LOPES FOR THREE!GCU has made a season-high nine three-pointers in three games this season and have shot over 40.0 percent from beyond the arc six times, including a season-best 53.8 percent (7-for-13) in their 71-69 win over UC Riverside on Jan. 4. GCU's 104 three-pointers so far this season rank tied for third among all WAC teams.
