Antelopes Take Six To Akron

Grand Canyon will take six wrestlers to this weekend's 2014 Asics University Freestyle National Championships in Akron, Ohio at Stile Athletic Field House.

"Our recent mini-camps and this event are all part of our foundation going into Division I and building the year-round training mindset for our athletes," said GCU coach R.C. LaHaye.

Peter Anguiano, Marcus Haughian, Chayse Jackson, Casey Larson, Godwin Nyama-Cutler and AJ Salazar will participate in the event.

"This is the biggest off-season tournament in the country for college kids," added LaHaye.

Anguiano will wrestle in the 125 kg (275.6 lbs.) class. Haughian is at 86 kg (189.6). Larson and Jackson will be at 70 kg (154.3) and Salazar and Nyama-Cutler will both compete at 61 kg (134.5).

Competition will take place Saturday and Sunday. Fans can find results and updated brackets at trackwrestling.com.
