GAME NOTES
#FIGHTFORFIRST
GCU will take on Utah Valley and a win would put the 'Lopes in a tie for first in the WAC, as the Wolverines currently hold a one-game lead in the conference. New Mexico State would also claim a share of the top spot with a win on Thursday coupled with a GCU win. The 'Lopes are 0-2 all-time against UVU, most recently dropping a 65-58 contest to the Wolverines on Jan. 11 in WAC play.
POLL POSITION
As GCU makes the turn into the second half of conference play, the 'Lopes currently find themselves tied for second with New Mexico State. GCU has undoubtedly exceeded all expectations, as they were selected to finish eighth in the WAC preseason coaches' poll and ninth in the media poll.
LAST TIME OUT
The 'Lopes won their season-high-tying fourth straight game, this one in convincing fashion, 72-53, at Kansas City on Feb. 1. Jerome Garrison picked up his seventh 20+ point game as GCU drained 13 shots from beyond the arc. The 'Lopes led by two at the break and went on to lead by as many as 19 after outscoring the 'Roos 39-22 in the second half. GCU shot 48.1 percent.
