The Grand Canyon University men's basketball team will return home tonight to face Montana State at GCU Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tonight's game will be the first of four straight home affairs that will be played over the next nine days for the Lopes. GCU fell to top-ranked Kentucky in their season opener on Friday; the Bobcats (0-1) suffered a 113-78 defeat at UCLA in their season debut. Cox7 will carry the television broadcast, while KXXT 1010 AM will have the radio call. Both have online links that can be found at www.gculopes.com. MONTANA STATEThis marks the first meeting between GCU and Montana State. The Bobcats went 14-16 overall last season, including a 9-10 mark in Big Sky Conference play. Montana State was picked to finish 11
th in the preseason conference coaches and media polls.
LAST TIME OUTGCU fell to the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 85-45, on Friday night in front of 22,533 fans at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Royce Woolridge led the Lopes with 15 points, while Daniel Alexander added 10 points. GCU shot 31.3 percent from the field (15-for-48) and made seven of their 15 three-point attempts (46.7 percent). Kentucky shot 48.6 percent (34-for-70) and outrebounded the Lopes 51-21 with help from nine McDonald's All-Americans.
WELCOME TO THE HERD!The GCU men's basketball program announced the signing of local Arizona products Kenzo Nudo and Nate Renfro to National Letters of Intent for the 2015-16 season. Nudo, out of Chaparral High School, was recently tabbed as the third-best prospect in Arizona, while Renfro was No. 11 in the azcentral sports' Big 100 for the 2015 class. Renfro attends Tucson Sahuaro.
