"It was a good way to start the tournament," said GCU coach Ann Pierson. "All three of our pitchers were outstanding and when you add in great defense we will be successful often. We hated to lose to Dominguez Hills but we played well."
In the victory over East Bay,
Kailey Regester was one out away from a no-hitter, before giving up her lone hit of the game, an infield single. Regester fanned eight and improved to 6-3. She also had GCU's lone extra-base hit, a double.
GCU scored three in the third and five in the fifth.
Lauren Regester went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Claire Zampini had a pair of hits and three RBIs, while

Pesqueira improved to 14-6 and had two strikeouts, while giving up just six hits. UCSD scored its only run in the seventh. The Tritons had two runners on when Pesqueira caught the final out on a pop up.
"She kept them off-balance and we had key hits," said Pierson. "Our offense battled all game long."
