Grand Canyon picked up a Pacific West Conference doubleheader sweep of Holy Names at Stapleton-Pierson Field Thursday.
The Antelopes (34-12, 17-5) won 9-1, in six innings, and 8-1 and are one-game behind first-place Hawai’i Hilo (33-15, 19-5).
“It’s always good to get two conference wins,” said coach Ann Pierson. “I’m pleased how we came out focused and aggressive at the plate. We did the little things, something we didn’t always do (at the Tournament of Champions last week in Turlock, Calif.). We moved runners and took extra bases.”
GCU combined for 31 hits in the two games.
Kayla Henry was 4-for-4 in the opener and stole four bases, two in each game, giving her 23 on the season. She also hit her ninth triple of the season. Henry and
Lauren Regester each had five-hit days. Henry scored five runs.
In game one,
Stephanie Pesqueira had a no-hitter for four and one-third innings and improved to 16-7 on the season.

“Both Kiki and Pesky threw well today,” added Pierson.
