Grand Canyon’s Kyle McCrite was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Wrestler of the Year.
The senior from Rathdrum, Idaho was the 2012 NCAA Division II National Champion in the 125-class and a national qualifier in 2013. The Pre-Pharmacy major has a 3.45 GPA. He was the lone GCU first-team representative.
Three GCU wrestlers were selected to the second team, sophomore Ryan Miller (3.57, Pre-Medicine) and freshmen Marcus Haughian (3.79 Forensic Science) and Chayse Jackson (4.00, Pre-Medicine).
Three more Antelope grapplers were named to the Honor Roll, Aurel Dan (3.85, Health Administration), Justin Martin (3.45, Sports Management) and Nate Zobott (3.49, Secondary Education).
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution prior to the start of wrestling season. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of wrestling selected the first and second teams.
