The Grand Canyon University men’s basketball team was doomed by a season-low shooting percentage and point ouput tonight, falling 58-45 to Chaminade in the inaugural PacWest Tournament at the Felix Events Center in Azusa, Calif.

The loss drops the Antelopes to 23-7 overall. They will now await their NCAA postseason fate that will be determined on Sunday evening. The show can be viewed at
www.NCAA.com. GCU was sixth in the latest west region poll, with the top eight seeds making it to the national tournament.
The Antelopes shot only 30.8% (16-for-52) this evening, including 23.3% (7-for-30) in the second half. They were 0-for-13 from the 3-point arc in the second half.
Chaminade (19-9) advances to the championship round tomorrow and will face the winner of the Dixie State – BYU Hawaii contest.
Both teams started slowly from the field, but the Silverswords were able to build a 19-12 lead with just under four minutes left in the opening half. GCU answered with a 12-2 run and went into the half leading 24-21.
Chaminade would use an 18-1 run early in the second half and build a 44-28 advantage with 11:43 remaining.
The Antelopes closed the lead to 11 twice over the next 4:30, but found itself down 49-35 with just under six minutes on the game clock. Four straight points by
Killian Larson and a layup by
Braylon Pickrel cut the lead to 49-41.
Jerome Garrison’s running layup cut the lead to 50-43, but it was as close as the Antelopes would get.
GCU outrebounded Chaminade 41-37, but committed 15 turnovers, 11 of which came in the first half.
Larson led the Antelopes with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Pickrel added nine points and seven boards.
