Fortune, McCrite, Ward Among Top 8
Grand Canyon is ranked No. 19 in the final National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, released Wednesday.
GCU finished its dual season with a 14-6 mark and will wrestle in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Super Region IV Championships Feb. 22-23 in Chadron, Neb.
Three Antelope wrestlers are among the top eight in their respective weight classes, topped off by Tyrell Fortune, ranked No. 3 in the 285-class. Fortune is 30-1 on the season with a school-record 18 wins by fall. Defending 125-class national champion Kyle McCrite is No. 6 and takes a 16-12 mark into the RMAC/Region tournament. At 149, 2012 All-American Bobby Ward is No. 8. Ward is 16-4 and has won seven straight matches.
