The Grand Canyon men's basketball team (5-6) opens the 24th annual Dr. Pepper Classic tonight at 5 p.m. (Arizona time) against host Tennessee-Chattanooga (4-8) at McKenzie Arena. The Antelopes will then square off against either Middle Tennessee State or Maine on Monday, marking their fifth consecutive contest on the road. The tournament concludes the non-conference portion of the 2013-14 schedule. Daniel Alexander continues to make an impact on the squad, having bested his career-high in points in each of his three games so far, with his latest 18-point effort coming on Dec. 23 at New Mexico.

GAME NOTES
AT THE DR. PEPPER CLASSIC: GCU has never faced off against Sunday's opponent Tennessee-Chattanooga or either of their possible Monday matchups, Middle Tennessee State or Maine.
LAST TIME OUT: The Antelopes lost their third straight game, 80-68, to New Mexico at The Pit on Dec. 23. GCU was led by Daniel Alexander's career-high 18 points, while Blake Davis (13), and Killian Larson (10) also scored in double figures. The Lobos shot an impressive 52.1 percent from the field for the contest (25-for-48), while the 'Lopes drained a season-best 10 three pointers for the third time this year.
TEACHING THEM WELL : Dan Majerle's NBA career was known for his three-point shooting abilities. The 'Lopes have made a season-high 10 three-pointers on three occasions this year. GCU had three double-digit efforts in 2012-13, two in 2011-12, two in 2010-11, and five in 2009-10. Of those 15 double-digit games, the 10-for-15 (.667) made against Tulsa on Dec. 17 is the highest shooting percentage.
ALEXANDER KEEPS IT GOING: Daniel Alexander made his GCU debut on Dec. 14 at NAU and has bested his career-highs for scoring in each of his three appearances. Against New Mexico, he scored a career-best 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting (.538). In his three games, Alexander has made 18-of-31 shots (.581), including 11-for-19 from behind the arc (.579). Additionally, he has grabbed 17 rebounds in the three contests for a 5.7 rebound per game average.
BIG WINS, CLOSE CALLS : GCU is averaging a 19.8 scoring margin in their five wins, including wins of 50 points over WNMU and 30 points over SDC. In six losses, the 'Lopes have only been outscored by an average of 9.0 points, including three games decided by three points or less.
