GAME NOTES
VS. HAWAI’I HILO: GCU is 13-1 against PacWest foe Hawai’i Hilo and have won 10 straight against the Vulcans. Last year’s games were both tightly contested, as GCU came away with a 49-40 win at home and 65-59 overtime victory in Hawai’i.
ALOHA!: The PacWest is home to four schools located in Hawai’i and overall since joining the conference, the ‘Lopes are 51-5 against those teams.
CONFERENCE PLAY: The Antelopes finished 15-3 en route to winning their fifth PacWest title in 2011-12. Since joining the conference in 2006, the ‘Lopes have posted an 81-13 mark overall and have won 15 games four times: in 2006-07, 2007-08, 2010-11 and 2011-12.

USA Today Sports/ESPN Division II Preseason Coaches’ poll (updated Nov. 27). GCU has been ranked among the top-20 teams in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Coaches Poll for 34 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2010-11 season.
LAST TIME OUT: GCU went 2-0 at last weekend’s GCU Thanksgiving Classic, claiming a 72-42 victory over Western New Mexico and a 68-62 win over Fort Lewis. The ‘Lopes were led by Judy Jones, who averaged 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in the two-day tournament.
BIG ON THE BOARDS: GCU has outrebounded their opponents, 311-299, through their first seven games. Judy Jones leads the squad with 53 rebounds, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game.
JONESIN’ FOR MORE: Judy Jones has made an immediate impact on the squad, averaging a team-high 12.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Jones was GCU’s leading scorer in their big 64-62 win over eighth-ranked UC San Diego on Nov. 10 in the Disney Classic and averaged 19.5 points during the GCU Thanksgiving Classic.
PACWEST STAT SPEAK: Among PacWest teams this season, GCU’s 32.7 rebounding defense ranks first, while their 11.7 rebounding margin is second and their 58.4 scoring defense, 7.9 scoring margin, 70.8 free throw percentage and 40.5 field goal percentage are third. Individually, Deanna Daniels (88.9) and Maylinn Smith (84.2) are second and third in free throw percentage, while Judy Jones ranks sixth with a 49.3 field goal percentage.
PRESEASON PACWEST PREDICTIONS: GCU was picked to finish atop the PacWest standings after receiving 11 of 14 possible first place votes, as decided by conference coaches. Maylinn Smith, the reigning conference Player of the Year, was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year.
