The No. 15 Grand Canyon University women's basketball team will faceoff against Northern New Mexico in their final home contest of the 2012 year. GAME NOTES
VS. NORTHERN NEW MEXICO: GCU will face off against Northern New Mexico for the first time in the program’s history. The Eagles' 3-10 record was through games played Dec. 27.
LAST TIME OUT: GCU split their two contests as part of the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic on Dec. 18 and 19 in Las Vegas, Nev. The ‘Lopes defeated No. 24 UW-Parkside, 68-54, in the first game and fell to No. 20 Western Washington, 72-68, in overtime the following day.
IN THE POLLS: GCU is ranked 15

USA Today Sports/ESPN Division II Preseason Coaches’ poll (updated Dec. 18). GCU has been ranked among the top-20 teams in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Coaches Poll for 39 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2010-11 season.
CONFERENCE PLAY: The Antelopes finished 15-3 en route to winning their fifth PacWest title in 2011-12. Since joining the conference in 2006, the ‘Lopes have posted an 84-13 mark overall and have won 15 games four times: in 2006-07, 2007-08, 2010-11 and 2011-12.
FEELING AT HOME…ON THE ROAD: GCU finished 11-0 on the road in the regular season in 2011-12, the first time in school history they won each of their regular season games away from home. They have now won 21 of their last 23 regular season road games (16 straight conference road games) dating back to the 2010-11 season. GCU is averaging 66.2 points-per-game on the road.
BALANCED ATTACK: The ‘Lopes have outscored their opponents 940-753 through 13 games, scoring 423 points in the first half and coming out strong in the second half with 507 points. GCU has outscored opponents in the second half in 11 of their 13 games so far this season.
BIG ON THE BOARDS: GCU has outrebounded their opponents, 585-447, through their first 13 games. Judy Jones leads the squad with 124 rebounds, averaging 9.5 rebounds per game.
JONESIN’ FOR MORE: Judy Jones has made an immediate impact on the squad, averaging a team-high 17.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Jones scored a season-high 34 points on Dec. 15 versus Fresno Pacific and has recorded eight straight double-doubles and has scored in double-digit figures for nine consecutive contests. Jones has been named PacWest Player of the Week three times this season.
SMITH CAN SCORE: Maylinn Smith has scored in double-digits in 11 of 13 games this season. Smith recorded double-digit scoring in 26 games last season, including a career-high 34 point performance at Academy of Art of Feb. 25, 2012.
PACWEST STAT SPEAK: Among PacWest teams this season, GCU’s 34.4 rebounding defense ranks first, while their 71.8 free throw percentage, 10.6 rebounding margin, 57.9 scoring defense, 42.5 field goal percentage and 14.4 scoring margin are second and their 45.0 rebounding offense is third. Individually, Judy Jones is third with 9.5 rebounds per game and a 54.5 field goal percentage and tied for third with 17.4 points per game.
