The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at the Interwest Insurance-Wildcat Invitational in Corning, Calif. The Antelopes shot a 19-over 883 on the Sevillano Links Corning Golf Club course.
Cal State Stanislaus won the tournament after shooting a combined 9-over 855. Cal State Monterey Bay took second with an 864 over the 54 hole, two-day event.
GCU’s
Mark Geddes finished in second, recording a 6-under 210. He shot a 71 for the second-straight round after posting a 68 during the opening 18 holes. Geddes had 13 birdies and one eagle during the tournament.
CSU-Stanislaus’ Rob Damschen was the medalist, defeating Geddes by one stroke, with a 7-under 209.
GCU’s Duncan Bohlen recorded a 9-over 225 and finished in a tie for 35
th.
Ryan Mahoney used a 73 today to climb 15 spots into a tie for 44
th and finish the tournament with an 11-over 227.
Grand Canyon will next be in action on Oct. 22-23 at Otter Invitational in Seaside, Calif. The tournament will be contested at the Bayonet Golf Course.
