Grand Canyon improved to 10-3 in dual meets with victories over Menlo (32-8) and Montana State-Northern (28-15) at the Mile High Duals in Prescott, Ariz. Friday.
GCU, No. 5 in the Basford Division II Rankings and No. 7 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, has won eight straight duals.
Senior two-time All-American Victor Carazo, No. 2 in Basford and No. 5 in the NWCA, won twice by fall at 174. Kyle McCrite (125), Bobby Ward (149), Brett Sanchez (184), Celic Bell (197) and Eric Fan (285) each won twice.
Ward and Bell are each ranked No. 7 in the Basford poll. McCrite is No. 4.
David Wilber (165) won his lone match.
Vincent Hererra (141) and Austen Moore (157) had one victory each. Hererra won by fall in 3:54 in his match against Menlo's Gustavo Lopez.
Both of Carazo's pins came in the first period. Against Menlo, he got a fall in 2:27 over Nick Gill. His match lasted just 1:55 against Max Payne of Montana State-Northern.
The pin against Montana State gave GCU a 19-15 lead. Sanchez, Bell and Fan followed with wins by decision to clinched the match.
Bell earned a 9-3 decision over Evan Hinebauch, who is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA at 184.
Fan picked up a 2-0 win over Menlo's Lenny Romero, the No. 6 heavyweight in the NAIA.
