Grand Canyon dropped a 3-1 decision to Hawai’i Hilo in a Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball match at Antelope Gymnasium Wednesday.
GCU dropped to 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the PacWest. Hilo improved to 10-2 and 6-2. Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18.
Brooke Blomenkamp led GCU in kills with 12. Setter
Kristen Preach had 36 assists, a team-high 21 digs and four block assists. Junior
Erica Ehlo had nine kills and only one error in 17 attempts for a .471 hitting percentage.
Junior middle hitter
Shelby Taylor had seven kills with only one error in 16 attempts for a .375 average. She added four block assists and two service aces.
Ehlo had five kills in GCU’s third set. Sophomore middle hitter
Kristen Johannsen had three of her five kills in the third.
For Hilo, Hillary Hurley, the nation’s leader in kills, had 34 Wednesday.
GCU plays host to BYU-Hawai’i 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Antelope Gymnasium.
