Holiday Inn Grand Canyon University Invitational Highlights 2011 Volleyball Schedule

Beginning her 17th season at the helm of the Grand Canyon University women’s volleyball program, head coach Kris Naber recently released the 2011 schedule -- highlighted by 13 home matches, including the return of the GCU Invitational.
The regular season opens Sep. 2 in Fairbanks, Alaska at the 2011 Nanook Invitational.
The home portion begins Sep. 8 with the 2011 Holiday Inn Grand Canyon University Invitational. GCU is hosting an invitational for the first time since 2008.
Antelope Gymnasium will be the site of 12 matches from Sep. 8-10, leading off with the ‘Lopes contest against Montana State Billings on Sep. 8.
“The invitational will be a great opportunity for fans to watch quality volleyball from programs all across the western region,” said Naber, the program’s winningest head coach and its first All-American player.
Along with GCU and MSU-Billings, Hawai’i Pacific, Notre Dame de Namur (Belmont, Calif.), Western New Mexico and Colorado Christian will participate in the event.
GCU will have nine home Pacific West Conference matches, beginning with its Sep. 10 contest with Hawai’i Pacific and 27 contests overall.
Fans can get their first look at the team Aug. 27 when Grand Canyon hosts its annual Alumni Match, starting at 6 p.m.
