Former Grand Canyon University swimmer, Charlie Woodruff, was recently honored in a White Coat Ceremony at the A.T. Still University’s School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Woodruff, the only swimmer to have been with the program since its inception, was a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Second-Team selection with a 3.43 GPA as a Pre-Med major this past season.
"Charlie was my first recruit and someone I will never forget,” said GCU Director of Aquatics, Randy Bellah. “Nobody from his family had ever gone to college and Charlie comes in and works hard and accomplishes both of his dreams, becoming a collegiate All-American and being accepted into medical school. We're going to miss him."
Woodruff earned All-American honors for his swims with the 200 and 400 free relay teams at the NCAA Championships in March.
Woodruff helped lead the GCU swim team to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, their highest placing in school history.
