Grand Canyon University women's basketball star Samantha Murphy has been named the first-ever Pacific West Conference Woman of the Year.

It was announced late Thursday night by the PacWest Office. She was selected for the honor by the league athletic directors during the annual league meetings in Honolulu June 6-8.

She is also a nominee for the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
