Grand Canyon University took both ends of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader with Dominican University of California today at Stapleton-Pierson Field in Phoenix, winning 20-6 and 6-4.
The Antelopes improved to 15-18 overall, 7-7 in the PacWest. The Penguins dropped to 1-32, 0-16.
In the first game, GCU pounded out 22 hits, including nine for extra bases. Senior outfielder
Teddy Barry (Glendale, AZ/Glendale, Phoenix College) homered in her first two at-bats, and junior outfielder
Brittany Manzoline (Peoria, AZ/Cactus, Phoenix College, Glendale Community College) also hit two home runs and had six RBI.

Kara Holtorf (Peoria, AZ/Sunrise Mountain) hit two doubles, and freshman second baseman
Claire Zampini (Phoenix, AZ/Deer Valley) had a double and triple.
Four 'Lopes had three hits apiece: freshman shortstop
Stephanie Smith (Phoenix, AZ/Sandra Day O'Connor), Zampini, senior first baseman
Montana Lucas (Glendale, AZ/Cactus, Phoenix College) and junior designated player
Vanessa Ramirez (Phoenix, AZ/St. Mary's, Mesa Community College). One of Lucas' hits was a home run.
Barry had four RBI and Barry, Ramirez, junior catcher
C.J. Norvell (Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite, Chandler-Gilbert Community College) and Manzoline scored three runs each.
Freshman
Dani Jackman (Mill Creek, WA/Henry M. Jackson) started for GCU and pitched 4 2/3 innings. She allowed one hit and two runs, one of which was earned, walked two and recorded five strikeouts. Freshman
Danielle Legee (Lebanon, OR/Lebanon) pitched the remaining one-third of an inning and gave up one hit and four runs, two of which were earned, and walked three.
Jackman got the win to improve to 3-6 on the season.
In the second game, Lucas had three hits, including a double, and Smith and Manzoline had two apiece to lead the 'Lopes 10-hit attack. Smith scored two runs.
The game was tied, 4-4, after five innings, but GCU scored one run in the top of the sixth and another in the seventh to put the game away.
Freshman
Janelle Christman (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro) started for the 'Lopes and pitched four innings. She allowed six hits and four runs, three of which were earned, and had two strikeouts. Jackman pitched the last three innings and gave up two hits.
Jackman again was credited with the win to move to 4-6.
GCU and Dominican will play another doubleheader starting at noon tomorrow at Stapleton-Pierson Field.
