Senior first baseman
Montana Lucas (Glendale, AZ/Cactus, Phoenix College) set new school records with five hits and nine RBI to lead Grand Canyon University to a 25-9 win over Dominican University of California in the second game of a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader today at Stapleton-Pierson Field in Phoenix.
The Antelopes won the first game, 10-3, and swept this weekend's four-game series with the Penguins.
GCU improved to 17-18 overall, 9-7 in the PacWest. Dominican fell to 1-34, 0-18.
The old school record of four hits in a game was set numerous times, most recently by Kelli Bridges on April 25, 2010 vs. Dominican.
The former school record for RBI of eight was established by Tracy Lubken on March 30, 2009 against BYU-Hawai'i.
Lucas hit one home run in the first game and two in the second, and now has a team-high seven home runs this season. Senior outfielder
Teddy Barry (Glendale, AZ/Greenway, Phoenix College), who homered twice in the first game of yesterday's doubleheader, has six.
Over the four-game series with Dominican, Lucas went an amazing 14-for-17 (.824) with 17 RBI, eight runs scored, three doubles and four home runs.
As a team, the 'Lopes had 70 hits in the four-game series.
In today's first game, GCU scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and one in the second, and held a 4-1 lead through five innings. Dominican scored twice in the top of the sixth, but GCU came back and put six on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach.

Claire Zampini (Phoenix, AZ/Deer Valley) and junior designated player
Vanessa Ramirez (Phoenix, AZ/St. Mary's, Mesa Community College) had two hits apiece. Both of Zampini's hits were doubles.
In the four-games vs. Dominican, Zampini was 10-for-17 (.588) with 10 RBI, 10 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and one stolen base. Manzoline was 7-for-16 (.438) with 10 RBI, six runs scored and two home runs.
Freshman
Dani Jackman (Mill Creek, WA/Henry M. Jackson) started for the 'Lopes and pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and three runs, only one of which was earned. She walked six and recorded five strikeouts.
Junior
Ivy Campas (Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside) pitched the remaining 1 1/3 innings and didn't allow a hit.
Jackman got the win -- her third straight this weekend -- to move to 4-6 on the season.
In the second game, the Penguins plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning, but GCU put up 10 of its own on the scoreboard in the top of the second. The 'Lopes scored three more runs in the third, four in the fourth and eight in the fifth.
They had a school record 26 hits in the game, four more than the previous record of 22 set on March 5, 2010 vs. BYU-Hawai'i. They also broke school records with 25 RBI, eight more than the old mark established in the same game, and 25 runs, four more than the prior record set on April 17, 2010 against Notre Dame de Namur.

Stephanie Smith (Phoenix, AZ/Sandra Day O'Connor) went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, Zampini was 4-for-5 with five RBI and four runs scored, Chavez went 2-for-3 with one RBI and four runs scored, junior catcher
C.J. Norvell (Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite, Chandler-Gilbert Community College) was 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and three runs scored, and junior outfielder
Brittany Manzoline (Phoenix, AZ/Cactus, Phoenix College, Glendale Community College) went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Janelle Christman (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro) started for GCU. She pitched one inning and gave up four hits and six runs, four of which were earned. She walked one.
Freshman
Danielle Legee (Lebanon, OR/Lebanon) pitched the next 2 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits and three runs, two of which were earned. She had one strikeout.
Campas pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, again did not give up any hits and recorded two strikeouts.
The 'Lopes will doubleheaders against Dixie State College on Friday and Saturday in St. George, Utah before playing their final four regular-season doubleheaders at home later this month.
