Dixie State College beat Grand Canyon University, 8-0 and 14-5, in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader today at Karl Brooks Field in St. George, Utah.
The first game ended after five innings and lasted only one hour and 18 minutes. The second game went the full seven innings.
The Antelopes fell to 17-22 overall, 9-11 in the PacWest. The Red Storm improved to 27-10, 17-3.

Ivy Campas (Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside) started for the 'Lopes and pitched all four innings. She allowed nine hits and eight runs, all of them earned, walked two and recorded four strikeouts. She took the loss and is 4-10 on the season.
Red Storm center fielder and leadoff hitter Jaelle Judkins went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, and first baseman Anna Cue was 3-for-3 with two home runs, six RBI and two runs scored.
In Game 2, Dixie State jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and led 7-0 after four before GCU pushed four runs across the plate in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back home runs to right field by Meyer and junior catcher
C.J. Norvell (Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite, Chandler-Gilbert Community College). Meyer's homer drove in three runs; Norvell's was a solo shot.
The 'Lopes scored one run in the bottom of the fifth after Norvell was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch, and then scored on a double to left-center field by junior outfielder

GCU had 10 hits in the game and left 10 runners on base; Dixie State had 15 and left eight. Both teams committed three errors.
Freshman
Janelle Christman (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro) started for GCU and pitched a complete game, giving up 15 hits and 14 runs, 13 of which were earned. She walked three and had three strikeouts. She suffered the first loss of her collegiate career and is 0-1 this season.
Red Storm catcher Breanna Egge went 2-for-5 with two runs scored; shortstop Ashley McFarland was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a sacrifice fly, five RBI and two runs scored; right fielder Johnna Brown went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored; third baseman Kelsey Mendenhall was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and one run scored; and back-up second baseman Matie Snow went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI.
The 'Lopes host Notre Dame de Namur (17-24, 6-10) for doubleheaders at noon next Saturday and Sunday.
