'Lopes Host Lions Tonight

GCU faced the Lions for the first time last season in a 0-3 loss on March 5, 2010.
Lindenwood is an NAIA institution and a member of the Mid-American Men’s Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference. This season, the Lions are ranked third in the NAIA and have racked up 11 wins and just five losses, three of which are against Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) members. Lindenwood is 4-2 in conference play and is currently on a nine match winning streak.
The ‘Lopes are coming off a tough conference loss against Loyola University 0-3 on Feb. 14. Despite the loss, GCU players continue to roll in high performance numbers. Junior middle Taylor Galliano (Norco, CA , Foothill , Irvine Valley College) hit .571 with 13 kills and just one error. Galliano has had a .500 or better hitting percentage five times this season.
Trent Bruns (Mission Viejo, CA , Mission Viejo) continues to make a national impact, currently ranked fourth in the nation and first in the MIVA for digs per set (2.63) according to the NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball statistical rankings released Feb. 21. Bruns has recorded 163 digs so far this season. He finished the 2010 season with 502 digs and ranked second in the nation with 3.61 digs per set.
