Four GCU Seniors To Be Recognized Today

Along with extending its record homecourt winning streak, currently at 13, Grand Canyon will honor four seniors during Senior Day ceremonies prior to today’s 3 p.m. tip-off with Hawaii-Hilo.
Seniors Samantha Murphy and Rosalyn Nelson – ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively on the school’s all-time scoring list -- and classmates Kristi Girdley and Katie Johnson will be recognized in front of the Antelope Gymnasium crowd.
GCU is ranked No. 10 in the nation, in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, and No. 5 in the NCAA West Region. Tied for first in the Pacific West Conference, today’s game with Hilo is crucial in the team’s quest for a fourth league title in the last five years.
Grand Canyon will play its final home game at Antelope Gymnasium Monday against Notre Dame de Namur. GCU has won a school-record 12 home games this season and is trying to be the first women’s basketball team to go undefeated at home.
Monday’s tip-off is 5 p.m. Next season, GCU will play at Grand Canyon University Arena, a new 5,000-seat on-campus facility.
