The Grand Canyon University softball team defeated Dominican University of California, 10-1, in six innings in Game 1 and 8-1 in Game 2 of a doubleheader at McInnis Park in San Rafael, Calif.
The Antelopes, ranked No. 21 in the nation and No. 2 in the West Region, improved to 40-11 overall, 21-9 in the Pacific West Conference.

Ivy Campas (Tucson, AZ, Sunnyside HS (Phoenix College)) pitched six innings and allowed six hits and one run (it was unearned), walked two and had three strikeouts.
She is 22-5 on the season. GCU scored two runs in the top of the first inning, six in the third and two in the sixth.

Tracy Lubken (Scottsdale, AZ, Horizon HS (Phoenix College)) went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and one run scored; junior first baseman
Montana Lucas (Glendale, AZ, Cactus HS (Phoenix College)) was 2-for-4 with one run scored; and senior third baseman
Gayle Nisbet (Phoenix, AZ, Shadow Mountain HS (Mesa CC)) went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBIs.
In the second game, GCU jumped out ot a 4-0 lead with three runs in the first and another in the second. Two Domincan errors led to a three-run first.
Kara Holtorf (Peoria, AZ, Sunrise Mountain HS) started the inning with a single. Bridges had an RBI-single in the inning. Holtorf scored the lone second-inning run when she reached on an infield single, stole second base and scored on an RBI-single by Gamez.
A two-out triple by Gamez preceded a Barry single in the fifth, while two sixth inning runs came across aftre a Lorenzi single, stolen base and advancement on a ground out. Gamez followed with a sac fly. Barry singled and Bridges doubled to make it a 7-1 lead.
In the seventh, Lucas tripled and scored on a
Katherine Hulet (Mesa, AZ, Dobson HS (Chandler-Gilbert CC)) double.
Hulet was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game 5-hitter.
