Carazo Finishes in Fourth Place, Becerra Eighth

Redshirt sophomore Victor Carazo (Modesto, CA/Modesto Junior College) and junior Ryan Becerra (Gilbert, AZ/Cal State Bakersfield), who yesterday became the first two All-Americans for Grand Canyon University, finished in fourth place in the 165-pound weight class and eighth place in the 184-pound weight class, respectively, today at the 48th annual NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Omaha, Neb.
Carazo (38-4), ranked No. 5 at 165 pounds, lost an 8-2 decision in the semifinals to No. 1-ranked Josh Shields of Mercyhurst College (37-3). He then beat Taylor May of the University of Nebraska-Kearney, 3-1, in the consolation round and was defeated 3-1 by No. 9-ranked Ryan Pankoke of the University of Nebraska-Omaha in a battle for third place.
Becerra (20-11), unranked at 184 pounds, lost a 7-1 decision to No. 9-ranked Charlie Pipher of Western State College and was beaten 8-5 by Aaron Norgren of Minnesota State University-Mankato in a match to decide seventh place.
