AZUSA, Calif. -- Grand Canyon found itself behind the eight-ball all night.
Overmatched from the start, the Antelopes dropped their second game of the season Tuesday night, losing to NAIA No. 17 Azusa Pacific, 93-52.
Azusa Pacific (2-2) has won 30 NAIA National Championships in its athletic program history. Grand Canyon (0-2) has three NAIA men's basketball national titles to its name, but now competes at the NCAA Division II level.
Grand Canyon was outshot from the floor and beyond the three-point line. The Antelopes were outrebounded on both the offensive and defensive glass. They turned the ball over 10 more times than the Cougars, and the 'Lopes never led.
Dave Cuen (pictured) had a double-double for the Antelopes, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. He had three steals and five turnovers.
He was the only Antelopes player in double figures.
GCU did not score the last 2:09 of the game.
Azusa's Brayden Bell had 20 points and eight rebounds, Dominique Johnson had 17 points, five assists and five boards, and Dave Burgess had nine points and 10 rebounds in 17 minutes.
The Antelopes host Cal State Los Angeles, which will be playing its first regular season game, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
