Grand Canyon lost to BYU-Hawaii 104-78 Friday night in Laie, Haw.
The loss dropped GCU's record to 11-13 overall, 6-10 in the Pacific West Conference. The Antelopes will get another crack at BYU-Hawaii (14-6, 9-4) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
With three games remaining on its schedule, Grand Canyon needs to win out to ensure a winning record. The Antelopes host Southwestern College at 7 p.m. Tuesday before concluding the season on the road at Notre Dame de Namur.
David Gonzales scored 22 points, hitting 9 of 13 shots, before fouling out. He had four assists and two steals. Gonzales, a senior guard from Puyallup, Wash., has averaged 24 points in his past three games to bump his scoring average up to 9.9 per game. He is shooting 51.5 percent from the field.
Gonzales hit 3 of 5 triples.
Center Brad Kanis (pictured) went 8 of 9 from the floor, scoring 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds. He added three blocks. Guard Milee Karre had 16 points, hitting 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.
GCU was outrebounded 42-29. The Antelopes trailed 59-47 at halftime in a fast-paced game.
Nathan Sims led BYU with 28 points on 11 of 12 shooting. Lucas Alves had 18 points and eight rebounds, and Trenson Akana added 14 points.
