Grand Canyon University men’s basketball coach Russ Pennell will be the guest on today’s segment of “The GCU Sports Report” on The Fan1060 AM with host Kevin McCabe at 11:25 a.m.

Grand Canyon is preparing for a big weekend at the Falcons Invitational in Seattle, Wash. GCU will take on No. 24 Central Washington at 5 p.m. PDT Friday and host Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Central Washington is 5-0 on the season. Saturday’s game will be the second in eight days against SPU. GCU lost 79-68 against the Falcons at Antelope Gymnasium in the GCU/Crowne Plaza Thanksgiving Classic.

“We want to be tested when we get to the Pacific West Conference (games),” Pennell said. “If we continue to give great effort, we’re going to win a lot of games.

“We’re going on the road and playing two very good teams. We’ll find out a lot about ourselves.”
